This weekend was a great one.
As usual, it had a little bit of everything! Including a new and sparkly 5K PR.
Because I am becoming obsessed with the Instagram app and trying to be artsy in my life in general, here is a picture recap.
Pictures are worth a lot of words.
Oh, and let’s be friends on Instagram. Username: christine_m_giamattei.
In addition, it is obviously a disappointing loss for the Patriots and New England. It was a stressful but exciting game. I yelled at the TV a lot during the game. And I also yelled during the halftime show and the commercials.
If you didn’t catch some of my live tweets… more or less how I reacted to and what I thought of the whole Super Bowl shebang this year.
That was in the span of an hour. Yeah, I was on a rampage and there was no stoppin’ it. Twitter is where I get to say whatever the heck I want. Welcome to the thoughts in my mind.
Sincerest apologies if I frightened you.
NBHM Training: Week 5
Monday: 8 miles total: 2 miles AM / 8 x 800 PM, total 6 miles
Tuesday: 4 miles, easy
Wednesday: 2 miles, easy
Thursday: 4 miles, easy
Friday: rest
Saturday: 12 miles, long
Sunday: 5K race
Total: 33 miles
What a fantastic week!
I topped over 30 miles and it didn’t seem hard to do at all. Especially with my new full-time job schedule!
The most miles per week I ran during Chicago training was 35, and now I’m inching closer to a comfortable 40-mile week.
Of course, there is always room for improvement and I’m seeing that I could have done another speed workout or harder run during the week, like intervals or a tempo. That could have easily got me to 40 miles. There is a lot of promise here.
I probably should have cross trained once or twice too.
But the best part about running 30+ miles this week was that it was also my first week of work.
I’ve always been convinced that I can accomplish more when I have more things to do, when I am busier. It makes me prioritize and take advantage of each day and rise to multiple challenges.
A-ha moments, you know.
Can’t wait to see how Week 6 turns out!
How was your weekend? How do you make your goals that you know are well within reach? Pats? Giants? What did you think about the game and more specifically the halftime show?

Nice job with your training!! I thoroughly enjoyed your tweets last night ;)
I don’t know how I set goals. I sometimes just become overly focused and go with it.
Blah to the Pats losing. I was not a camper, or with anyone who was.
Hi Christine,
Nice to meet you! I love your website and your playlists too! I’m running the New Bedford Half for the first time this year and found your site via Google.I’ve run 9+ miles of the course but it’s that long slog by the water followed by the last uphill mile on County St. that I’m worried about. My goal is to finish within the time limit(if there is one) and not get hurt.
Good luck on your training and kudos to you on your website!
Barbara
